Combined they aurguably provide MORE security than MS Security Upgrades. Diagnostic Start Up. I restarted in safe mode and the screen froze at the Mup.sys line and the keyboard went dead and I had to manually turn off the computer. Thanks for any help... Homepage
I think you may delete them as well. I left it unchecked and rechecked all the remaining services and Safe Boot now worked OK. Thanks!!! I did a disable mup in the recovery console, and it hung elsewhare pbadrv.sys.

One in every ten or so times we boot up a Windows XP system, it will hang on start-up. REMOVE ANY NEWLY INSTALLED HARD DRIVES OR HARD DRIVE CONTROLLERS. Tried also that chkdsk and other things and all them FAILED big time! Compared with other software, Safe Mode fixer has been planned for this specific task, to restore the safe mode boot, which is good and honestly in my case did the job
Report reya- Dec 17, 2009 10:12AM Mups.sys is not the culprit, it's simply the last driver used. SpybotS&D, Spyware Doctor, SpywareBlaster, AVGFree, Kerio, Peer Guardian, RegscrubXP and Adaware are among the better ones. In Mini Windows I went to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers directory and renamed all files that had a size of 0 kB. Hope this helps.
