I have checked that all the Workgroup names are correct and identical. I tried to get those free trial of that Iolo Anti Virus and personal firewall but their site keeps saying the server is too buys. Besides that, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas. when it WAS working, a prompt came up from McAfee asking if we wanted it to work more efficiently…I clicked ok, the computer restarted, and from then on it didn't work.

Sweet. The Vista computer can see and access the others. Her laptop cannot connect to the more secure WPA2-PSK settings. had to reset the firewall config on the 2wire gateway back to factory defaults, and then everything started workig again.
Long story short - my computer came with a 6 month trail for Norton Symantec and when it expired, I removed it but apparently unsuccessfully. thank you so much!
