If you do not get a reply (e.g. "Request timeout") this indicates something is blocking the VPN connection, see I cannot connect to the VPN, what can I do? Everything works fine in relation to the VPN access, but locally I can't access the internet. I then saw that there was an update to v.43 which I preformed and the issue was not fixed. This indicates you have no internet access when VPNed. However, you should still be able to access VPN network resources. Forum → Hide My Ass!

There is a clear configuration problem here.
