If the Form_Unload event calls another Form or Report, and that Form or Report is dependant on the value of a Global, then it is more likely to be cancelled. If the Form will not close then Access can not close. I can then use Beyond Compare 2 to do a diff on the forms to see what I have changed. Access is not responding simply because it is too busy to respond to anything else internally. so we made an invible form that opened and we had a loop on a timer that would run and check for a shutdown bit.
What is exactly meant by a "data set"? or any other unfinished business. What a pain! A subform in the Detail.

A slightly different visual effect occurs if a Report is opened but is immediately cancelled using the same type of code. Keep doing this until I find a place that it won't work. I cannot say I have honestly seen that behaviour before of having to open/close each code window for the associated forms, but whenever I see strange things happening in my DBs, If the Form_Unload event can not terminate, because of an error loop, then the Form will not close. The closing or quiting request doesn't know what to close > since everything is already closed. Heroku throws an error like "Push rejected, Unauthorized access."
