I'm reasonably certain that it was SINCE that time that I got the above referenced windows update, which, when I checked out, was a not particularly well-documented item dated 2003.
I bet you $1 that it works.
But the topic of this thread is still unresolved. Curious but somewhat reluctant about the freeware product mentioned in the first post. What am I doing wrong? I have tried various "name brand" CD- R & CD-RW disks.

To resolve this issue, make sure that the service is running and that it has not been turned off. That is the second ide cable separate from your hdd as your using 2 roms.
