I'm sure a reinstall of GOM will fix the problems but I just can't wrap my head around why windows wouldn't follow through with the association change that normally works. But why won't Windows 7 let me choose an application on a different SATA drive (not usb) to open that file type? If the association change hasn't worked then I'd expect windows to alert me to that fact.

work. If I use properties(RM on file -> properties -> change) and try to change it defaults to WMP.
